What language should my website be written in?
Don't worry about a thing! There are a number of programming languages used by programmers to build websites. While they all serve the same purpose, they have different strengths and weakness depending upon the actual solution required. You don't need to concern yourself too much with this aspect of the website development process; we'll ensure we use the most appropriate language for your project and are happy to discuss with you the reasoning behind our decision.

But I can get a website built for under a thousand dollars?
Er, you can... As with any service, there is a huge range of deals around, but think hard before you go cheap. You pay peanuts and you get monkeys and all that. Will a $999 site provide the functionality that you need? For instance, for this sort of money the site is likely to be a modified standard template; i.e. it not be fully customised to represent your brand values and corporate identity. It will not be easily updateable. It is likely to be limited in size and not search engine optimised. And these are just a few of the limitations.

Consider too how much a cheap site can represent your brand values and company image. Does your site need ecommerce capability? Does it need to link to your database to capture client details and info? How often will it need updating? Likely a 'cheap' site will not provide these sorts of capabilities.

What is the difference between an ISP, Search Engines, Web hosts, Browsers and domain name registers?
Ahh, yes, the jargon section!
ISP- Internet Service Provider. These are companies that provide access to the Internet such as XTRA or IHUG. They operate in a similar fashion to a phone company who supplies your phone line, but not necessarily your actual phone.

Browsers- Browsers such as Netscape or Internet Explorer are powerful software programs which interpret the HTML code which the internet uses to operate, and then display it as text and images on your computer screen.

Search Engines- These allow you to find relevant websites by searching for key words or topics within WebPages. The most popular, largest and quickest are Google, MSN (Microsoft Search Network) and Yahoo!

If you have a website you should register your domain name/URL with search engines to make sure people can find your site. (Sounds obvious, but believe us, with some people') It is also important to make your website search engine friendly so you can achieve the highest possible search engine ranking. E.g. whaen clients search via a search engines they are not likely to go past the first few pages of results. If you're site isn't opitmised to be captured in the top 10 or 20 results, you are missing out on business. Zenago specialize in search engine optimization.

Web Hosts- these are companies that host your actual web site pages on a server, on your behalf.

Can Zenago help me with the whole process or only the development?
Yes indeed. Zenago can provide all aspects of web development from the creating of the site, the look and feel- all the technological aspects, right through to hosting.

Including design, development, content management software, search engine optimisation, domain name registration, web hosting and customised solutions; we can do any or all of these for you.

Where do I start?
Good question. Zenago's sales team can help you with this and provide you with key questions to consider, as well as providing you with examples of sites that we have built, especially those relevant to your business or industry. You can draw a rough site map or plan if you have some content ideas; this helps us understand your requirements.

Something you can do is to think about the purpose of your site, the likely content and who your target market is. We will then walk you through the process so you gain the result you are looking for.

How many pages should I have and in what sequence?
Once you have decided the purpose and content of the site you can produce a site plan using a tree diagram or list showing what sections will come off the home page and then what pages will be included in each section. This is a good way to understand site navigation. We will go to great lengths to understand your requirements and make sure your site is relevant and functional.

Can I write the content?
While you can we suggest that you give us an idea of what you need and get us to do that for you. Would you write your own sales brochures, or the copy for a press ad? Probably not.

Most people find content writing time consuming and difficult. We employ an experienced copywriter who comes up with relevant, precise copy that is to the point and easy to read, and he works quickly. While this may first seem like an extra expense, the results speak for themselves (we have plenty of great examples) and all this occurs while your team can focus on what they do best in your business.

How do I update my site and keep the content relevant?
Zenago can update your site for you. Another option is integrating your current site or building your new site using Zenago Site Manager, which enables you to quickly and simply update your site as often as you need yourself. This means you don't need a developer or to understand HTML.

Which search engines can I register with and can Zenago do it for me?
We can recommend and register you with the major search engines use worldwide.

How can I get a higher ranking in a search engine?
Search engine optimisation is the key to increasing the hits on your website. At Zenago we develop search engine friendly sites that allow you to gain the highest-ranking possible.

Search engines often use things that 'crawl' around the Internet looking for key words and phrases in order for them to rank your website against others. We will use many techniques- such as placing meta-tags in the HTML code, making sure key words are prominent and in the right places in your site along with many other little tweaks- that all improve the chances of you being found ahead of the competition.

What will a website cost?
This is a bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' question. We can build sites from under three thousand dollars to over fifty thousand. It simply depends on how big a role the site will play in your business, and how big a business you are.
